You will start the program with a basic understanding of product management and the key skills required to become a successful product manager. On completion of the first module, you will have an understanding of what the expectations from a product manager are, how they vary across companies and across industries, and what it takes to be a successful product manager.

To build products that users would love, you first need to find out what they want. This module will help you understand how you can get to know your users through common methods of user research like interview, survey and contextual inquiry. You will also learn how to analyse the data you collect and how to gather insights from it that will help you develop the product.

As a PM, you will be the voice of the user to the product’s stakeholders. To get everyone on the same level of understanding, you will need artifacts that can convey the user’s world view. Personas, user journey maps and user stories are some of the things you will learn to create from your user research.

Many great products fail due to bad design. A product solving all the pain points of the user will still need to be perfectly designed so that the user can actually use it. You will understand how to build products with design that keeps the user in focus. This module will also cover new standards in product design.

Before investing time and resources on your product, it is better to build prototypes, so that you can test them on actual users to get feedback. You will learn how to create paper prototypes, wireframes (using tools like Balsamiq, Proto.io) and high fidelity prototypes like mockups (using Invision).

Now that you have a prototype, you need to be aware of how to capture user feedback in an organised manner to improve the design. Through these modules, you will learn various user and data-based design validation methods like usability testing and minimum viable product.

Taking a product to development requires the PM to play a critical role in deciding the priority of the features that should go into development, defining the requirements with clarity, and working with tech and design teams during the sprint. Through these modules, you will learn about the fundamentals of scrum product development, sprint planning, writing effective product requirements and creating a product roadmap.

The product is ready to ship. The focus now is for the feature to perform in a stable manner. In this module, you will learn about the application of CI/CD (continuous integration and continuous deployment) and DevOps.

Managing a product requires the product manager to gauge the performance of the product on metrics. In this module, you will learn the metrics that need to be tracked, methods to track them and how to interpret the data.

When the product is live, your main focus will be to increase the engagement of the users across the product and develop hacks to grow the number of users. In this module, you will learn about the various facets of user engagement, and methods to achieve user growth.

The success of a PM is dependent on more than strength in hard skills alone. The primary indicator of success is her strength in leading without authority. Through this module, you will learn how to lead without authority, prioritise, and get more done with less.

In this module, you will get exposure to other topics that you might be expected to know based on the type of products or features that you will manage. APIs, payments and go to market are some of the topics covered in this module.
