Akhilesh Yadav

The former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and member of the Samajwadi Party, Akhilesh Yadav, holds a master’s degree in environmental engineering from the University of Sydney, Australia. He completed his bachelor's and master’s studies in civil engineering at the JSS Science and Technology University in Mysore.

Shashi Tharoor

We all know he is a human English dictionary. A celebrated author and politician, Shashi Tharoor holds a B A in history from the University of Delhi and a doctorate in International Relations and Affairs from Tufts University’s The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy. Also, he completed his doctorate at the age of 22 and was the youngest person at the time to receive the degree. 

Subramanian Swamy

The BJP member is a Harvard alum and pursued his PhD in Economics. Subramanian Swamy has also worked as a professor of Mathematical Economics at The Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi.

Mahua Moitra

Before entering politics in 2009, Mahua Moitra was an investment banker at JPMorgan Chase. The All India Trinamool Congress member holds a dual degree in mathematics and economics from Mount Holyoke College in the US.  

Jayant Chaudhary

The Rashtriya Lok Dal leader pursued a Master of Science in Accounting and Finance at the prestigious London School of Economics. He, too, is an investment banker-turned-politician who was elected to the parliament in 2009. He also holds a degree from Shri Venkateswara College, University of Delhi. 

Sukhbir Singh Badal

Head of Shiromani Akali Dal, Sukhbir Singh Badal, holds an MBA degree from California State University, US. Before moving to the US for his management education, he completed a degree in Economics from Panjab University.

Manmohan Singh

The ex-prime Minister of India, Manmohan Singh, attended St. John’s College- the University of Cambridge for his Economics Tripos. He had a brief stint as a teacher at Panjab University before returning to the UK for a DPhil at Nuffield College, University of Oxford. He is an Economics postgraduate from Punjab University.

Kapil Sibal

The Indian National Congress Party member and former Minister of Law and Justice, Kapil Sibal, is a Harvard Law School alum. He also holds an MA in History and LLB degrees from St Stephen’s College, University of Delhi.
