More About Rowan University

History of Rowan University

Rowan University was founded in 1923 and initially trained the teachers in the US’ New Jersey. 

In 1917, to expand the school education, the Glassboro citizens raised $7,000 (INR 5,23,313) to start a school over 25 acres. 

In September 1923, Glassboro Normal School started with around 236 students. It was known as Bunce Hall. 

The school changed its name to New Jersey State Teachers College at Glassboro in 1934. 

The university started as a multipurpose university running full-fledged with majors and divisions. In 1992, Rowan University expanded its education services and got its name from Henry Rowan with a donation of $100 million (INR 747.57 cr). Today, it is a full-fledged university.  

Education System at Rowan University

Rowan University follows a semester-based education system. For a bachelor’s degree of three years, there are six semesters. Every academic year has two semesters. 

There are more than 100 majors and specializations for students to opt from. The education system is diversified with undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs. 

There are approximately 2,294 faculty members offering a professional education system. The university offers humanities, science, art, technology, and finance programs. There are around 90 bachelor’s, 48 master’s, nine doctoral, and two professional degree programs.

Rowan University Requirements: Examinations Required

English Language Proficiency Test

Applicants need to take the English language proficiency test if they belong to a non-native English-speaking country. Students with a bachelor’s degree or high school degree in English are exempted from taking the proficiency test. However, students not belonging to an English-speaking country or without any degree in English need to take the IELTS, Duolingo, or TOEFL examination. The minimum IELTS score is 6.0, Duolingo is 90, and the TOEFL score is 70. 

Standardized Examinations for Undergraduate Courses 

Students taking admission to undergraduate courses need to submit ACT and SAT scores. The SAT score is 1050, and the ACT examination score requirement is 21. 

Standardized Examinations for the Graduate Program

For master’s and Ph.D. programs, students need to submit GRE and GMAT test scores. The GRE scores are not compulsory but encouraged. The GMAT score requirement is 450.
