More About Vancouver Island University

The history of Vancouver Island University goes back to 1936 when a local garage and mechanic decided to train eight boys as automotive mechanics in a shed-turned-classroom. After two years, the federal and provincial governments started funding vocational training in British Columbia and the local mechanic’s workshop was shifted on the property of Thomas Hodgson School. It was then officially named The Dominion-Provincial Youth Training Center in 1938. Based on the crucial evolutionary steps taken at Malaspina College and Malaspina University-College, the final switch towards the Vancouver Island University, Canadatook place in April 2008. 

Vancouver Island University offers more than 120 educational programs along with investing $60 million on the Nanaimo campus, catering to students in health, science, and trades disciplines. It has a student population of 14,500 coming from 25 countries for global study options. There is also $3.5 million in bursaries, scholarships, and awards for pupils, as seen in 2019-20.  Vancouver Island University, Canadaoffers practical and work experience to students through practicums, co-ops, field schools, and internships. Admission Requirements
 

There are several requirements for Vancouver Island University admissions, including the following: 

1. Complete ESL language assessment test or adhere to English language proficiency requirements. 

2. Proof of high school and other secondary school educational transcripts along with graduation transcripts if applicable. 

3. Those applying to undergraduate programs should complete high school successfully while those applying for graduate programs should have completed undergraduate courses in a relevant discipline.
