GPAT Exam Eligibility

Students must meet the following criteria to be eligible for the GPAT examination:

  • The candidate should be an Indian citizen.
  • The candidate must hold a bachelor’s degree in pharmacy (4 years after 10+2, including and for lateral entry students) or an equivalent degree from a recognized university.
  • Graduates of BTech in Chemical Technology/ Pharmaceutical Technology or similar degree programs are not eligible to apply.
  • Candidates appearing for the final year exam of their bachelor's degree in pharmacy are eligible to attend the GPAT exam if their results are declared before the commencement of admissions for the academic year 2024-25. 

Note: There is no age restriction for the examination. 

GPAT Registration

Candidates need to register on the official GPAT website as applications are accepted using online mode only. Each candidate can submit only one application. 

Before starting the application process, ensure that you have the following:

  • A computer with proper internet connectivity.
  • A valid Email ID.
  • A valid mobile number.
  • A valid debit/credit card/other payment facility.
  • Scanned copy of the photograph in JPEG/JPG format(white background and the face should cover at least 80% of the picture).
  • Scanned copy of signature in JPEG/JPG format.

Some of the documents required for completing the GPAT exam registration include:

  • A valid government ID Card (Aadhar Card, Driving License, Passport, or other proof of identity).
  • Class Xth certificate and other educational documents.
  • PwD certificate/NCL certificate/EWS certificate as applicable.

Once you have the above prerequisites, make sure that you fulfill all the GPAT exam eligibility criteria. You can then get started with the registration process:

  • Step 1: Visit the GPAT registration page
    • Once you visit the website, you can apply for online registration using your email ID and mobile number.
    • You will be asked to fill in the basic details, including your name, your father’s name, your mother’s name, and your date of birth.
  • Step 2: Fill in the online application
    • You can then complete the online application by providing your address and other educational details.
    • You can then select the city where you want to appear for the examination from the 110 test centers available. 
    • You will then be asked to upload the photograph, signature, and PwD certificates.
  • Step 3: Complete the fee payment
    • Once you have registered, you can pay fees using any available method.

You can complete all three steps together or at different times. However, the application is not considered to be completed without successful payment. Therefore, applications without payment will be deemed incomplete and rejected without notice.

GPAT exam fees can be paid using credit/debit cards (except Master/Visa cards), Net banking, and UPI. Convenience charges, GST, and banking charges might be applicable over and above the examination fee and will be visible in the payment gateway.

FAQs

Are there any negative marks for the GPAT exam?

Yes, there are negative marks for the GPAT examination. Each incorrect answer will cause a one-mark deduction from the total score, and a correct answer will be given four marks. However, unanswered/ unattended questions do not have negative marks. 

What is the expected cut-off for the GPAT exam?

Based on previous year trends, the expected cut-off marks are  145–155(General), 114–120(OBC), 85–105(SC), 75–85(ST), and 110–120(EWS).

How do I prepare for the GPAT exam?

The primary objective while preparing for the GPAT exam should be to cover the entire syllabus and focus on solving more questions to be familiar with the procedures and practices. You can work on previous year's questions and model question papers to increase the chance of clearing the exam.
