In this example you need to describe a problem you had while shopping .Achieving high scores on the IELTS Speaking exam depends on your capacity to articulate these difficulties clearly. Sample Answer 1.

Introduction: Last week, I went to a local department store to purchase a new pair of jeans.

Describe the problem you faced while shopping: As I was browsing through the collection, I found a pair of jeans that I liked, but unfortunately, my size wasn't available on the rack. I asked one of the store employees for assistance, but they informed me that the size I was looking for was out of stock.

Explain how you tried to solve the problem: I asked the employee if they had any other sizes available or if they could check the stockroom for the jeans I wanted. However, they said that they could not help me and suggested that I try my luck at another store.

Share the outcome: I left the store feeling frustrated and disappointed. I had wasted my time and energy trying to find a pair of jeans, and the unhelpful attitude of the employee only added to my annoyance.

Sample Answer 2.

Introduction: A few months ago, I ordered a new phone online from an e-commerce website.

Describe the problem you faced while shopping: When I received the phone, I noticed that it had a scratch on the screen. I was disappointed and frustrated as I had spent a considerable amount of money on the phone.

Explain how you tried to solve the problem: I immediately contacted the customer service of the website to inform them of the issue. They asked me to send pictures of the phone and the scratch. I followed their instructions and sent the pictures promptly.

Share the outcome: To my relief, the website agreed to replace the phone with a new one. The process took a few days, but I received the new phone in perfect condition. I was satisfied with the solution and appreciated the prompt and helpful customer service.
