Describe A Time You Moved To A New Home/School IELTS Cue Card Sample Answers.

Sample 1.

Introduction: I'd like to talk about the time I transferred to a new school.

When did you relocate: At the time, I was 15 years old and had finished 10th grade.

Why did you relocate: My 10th-grade marks were very low, so the school that I had been attending wanted me to leave because they usually reduce the total number of students in the 11th grade. That means that students with high grades can only stay at that school. So we decided to change schools for 11th grade

What are your thoughts on it: I remember being terrified on the first day of that school because I was meeting new people, and new staff, and being in an entirely new environment. I entered the class, despite my fear. I sat on the first bench and, surprisingly, all of the students were very friendly to me right away. They talked to me and looked after me the entire day. I was so happy that when I got home from school, I went to my house and told everyone how happy I was.

Sample 2.

Introduction: Moving every few years was difficult because it meant leaving behind familiar surroundings, friends, and neighbors and starting over in an entirely new environment. In this context, I'd like to talk about the time when I was 11 years old and we moved to a new place, which is still fresh in my mind.

When did you relocate: I had just finished sixth grade and had a great group of friends with whom I could play and go to study groups. A few days later, my father broke the news that we were moving due to another transfer, and I was devastated to hear it. Anyway, we relocated to Connecticut, and I enrolled in a nearby school.

Why did you relocate: My family had to relocate frequently due to my father's job transfers, and as a result, I had to change schools several times during my childhood.

What are your thoughts on it: I dreaded my first day of school because it was a new environment for me. I panicked because I couldn't find my classroom, but a teacher helped me find it. She was my class teacher, and she later introduced me as a new student. I was terrified the moment I walked into the classroom where I was assigned because I was the only new student in the class and everyone seemed foreign to me. To my surprise, they were all very friendly and invited me to join them for lunch and play games. I felt happy and quickly settled down at school with my classmates. I told my family about my good news, and we also had nice neighbors.
