History of University of Prince Edward Island
Prince of Wales College (founded in 1834) and Saint Dunstan's University (founded in 1855), the University of Prince Edward Island's founding institutions, are the source of the university's illustrious academic history, which dates back to the early 1800s. One university was established in the province in 1969 as a result of the University Act, which was passed by the Prince Edward Island government led by Premier Alex B. Campbell. The University of Prince Edward Island accepted its first students in September of that year.
