The university does not follow one common deadline for all master’s courses. Students should confirm the current period through the individual program page before submitting their documents.

• The Winter Semester 2026/27 lecture period runs from 12 October 2026 to 12 February 2027. 
• The Summer Semester 2027 lecture period runs from 12 April to 16 July 2027.

Admission requirements vary by course and study level. Some unrestricted programs admit students who meet all published conditions, while restricted courses have limited seats and follow a competitive selection process.

International applicants must confirm whether their previous qualification is recognised in Germany and apply through the route specified for their course, uni-assist, Goethe University’s portal or Hochschulstart.

Undergraduate Admission Requirements

Bachelor’s and State Examination applicants need a qualification equivalent to the German Hochschulzugangsberechtigung. Depending on their academic background, Indian students may qualify for direct admission or need to complete a Studienkolleg.

Most undergraduate programs are taught in German and generally require DSH-2 or an equivalent qualification. Medicine and Dentistry may require DSH-3.
