At Ulm University, students don’t need to pay any tuition fee for the bachelor’s and master’s courses, except for some courses. 

Students from the master’s programs in actuarial science, sensor engineering, and management need to pay the tuition fee. 

Students need to pay the administration fee of 70 € (INR 5,928), student union fee of 87 € (INR 7,370), union student body 13.00 € (INR 1,101) which comes up to 170 € (INR 14,402). Students who are admitted to the second degree, whether undergraduate or postgraduate, need to pay 650 euros every semester.

Required Examination for Ulm University

Students need to take the language proficiency test to study at Ulm University. Since the majority of the courses are in German, German language proficiency tests are important. For English taught programs, language proficiency test scores are important. Here are  the examinations that students need to take in order to enroll in the programs: 

For the English language, IELTS score and TOEFL scores are widely accepted to test English language proficiency. You can use a TOEFL score of at least 72 for the internet-based test or an IELTS score of 5.5 or better. 

ACT SAT scores are accepted for undergraduate admission as well as scholarship. ACT minimum score is 18 and for SAT it is 500. ACT minimum composite of 20 is accepted. 

Students need to have a level of B1 in the German language proficiency test, only then the application will be accepted. They need to participate in an intensive German language course prior to the beginning of their studies. 

Academic Requirements for Ulm University

  • Original academic transcripts, certificates, and records of all the past academic qualifications are mandatory to be submitted with the application form. 
  • English language proficiency test scores. The test scores of IELTS and TOEFL are accepted. German language proficiency test scorecards need to be submitted. The ACT and SAT scorecards need to be submitted along with the application form. 
  • Updated curriculum vitae should be updated with work experience and recent qualifications. 
  • A motivation statement is a personal essay where students need to mention the reasons why they chose to study at Ulm University and what makes the university a preferred destination for study. It should be of one page length and should include the career opportunity, goals and expectations out of the program. 
  • The grading system should be mentioned which says the type of grading and  minimum grade required for passing the bachelor’s degree as well as the highest education degree. 
  • Some courses need letters of recommendation from faculty and past employers who have monitored the academics of the students. The recommendation letters help in securing admission to programs. 

Scholarship available for Ulm University

Only the post-graduation students and doctoral students currently enrolled at Ulm University are eligible for the scholarships and grants. 

DAAD Scholarship

The DAAD University is an external Scholarship program offered to doctoral and post graduate students only. It is offered to international students. The stipend involves 850€ ( INR 71,973) monthly for postgraduate students and 1,200€ (INR 1,01,602) monthly for doctoral students. Students need to have a minimum work experience in the relevant field of study and have finished their Bachelor’s degree in not more than 6 years.
