Do International Students have the option to study in English at the University of Stuttgart?

Yes, the University of Stuttgart offers Master's programs that are taught in English, mostly in the area of engineering, natural sciences, and information technology. Bachelor’s programs are generally in German; however, international students can apply for English taught postgraduate courses.

Will students have to show proof of the German language?

Yes, for German taught programs students must show proof of German language proficiency with accepted levels of tests such as TestDaF or DSH. For English taught master's programs German language is not required to be shown but it is advised students have basic knowledge of German for their daily life in Germany.

Which English language tests are accepted?

IELTS, TOEFL, Cambridge English tests. Generally, IELTS 6.5+ or TOEFL iBT 80+ is the requirement.

Are living costs in Stuttgart expensive?

It is uncommon for students to get a full waiver of fees whilst studying, however, students can apply for need-based grants, some external funding as well as working part-time.

Are internships compulsory for study programs?

Yes. Many study programs including many engineering and technology study areas require or strongly encourage an internship with a partner company.

Will the University of Stuttgart provide opportunities for on campus accommodation?

Yes, however, this guy is limited. Many students will use student dormitories or private rentals for accommodation. It is advisable to apply early for the first choice. 

What is student life like in Stuttgart?

Stuttgart has a lively student community with culture and sporting events, student clubs, lots of cultural events, and international students groups. There are also lots of opportunities for student internships with larger technology/motor companies (Porsche, Bosch etc).
