In Kingston upon Hull, a city in Yorkshire's East Riding, England, there is a public research university known as the University of Hull. In 1927, University College Hull was established. The University of Hull is a single-campus institution where students can live and study anywhere on the campus. Although Hull University is a campus-based institution, its main campus is located in a suburban area as opposed to an urban one. The main campus is entirely self-contained in terms of food service and staff and student entertainment, and it is located on a single, well-defined plot. The campus also boasts numerous playing fields, other sporting facilities, and a sizable Students' Union building that is frequently cited as one of the best in the nation. Some of the university-owned student housing was once located in the sizable community of Cottingham on the outskirts of Hull, however none is still utilized for this purpose today.
