University of Surrey Admission Requirements

  • A minimum of a 2:2 UK honors degree, or a recognised equivalent international qualification.
  • Relevant work experience is regarded. (for only specific fields)
  • Minimum GCSE (or similar) levels in English Language, Mathematics, and science are required before admission in certain situations.
  • University's English Language Proficiency Requirement as defined by the Student Marketing, Recruitment, and Admissions Committee must be demonstrated by the applicants.
  • An official English language exam must be taken within two years of the course's commencement date. 
  • Successful completion of the University of Surrey's suitable Pre-sessional English Language program, providing it is done promptly before the main degree program or with special approval.
  • According to a University cooperation agreement, successful completion of an English Language assessment at the required level.
  • The English language requirements vary according to the course chosen. For instance, in the case of corporate environmental management, it is a 6.5 overall score in IELTS Academic with 6.0 in Writing and 5.5 in each other element.

University of Surrey Acceptance Rates

Admission to the University of Surrey is a cakewalk for deserving candidates who meet all requirements. The University of Surrey's acceptance rate stands at 65 per cent, suggesting moderately selective admission criteria. Around 16,000 students attend the University of Surrey, with international students accounting for 33% of the total enrolment.

Credit Hours

Modules are Surrey's term for courses or study units. Most modules are for 15 Surrey credits (7.5 ECTS) (equivalent to 3 USA credits). Exchange students are required to attend Surrey full-time. A full-time workload consists of 60 Surrey credits or 30 ECTS credits every semester or four courses. You can only take four modules at a time. In exceptional circumstances, a student may be required to study a distance learning module from their home institution. At the same time, at Surrey, the university will be limited to three Surrey modules.
