Accreditation, Number of Students and Faculties

The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) accredits the University of Mississippi for awarding doctoral degrees, graduate certificates, first professional, specialists, master’s and baccalaureate programs. There were 23,780 new enrollments, out of which 56% are female and 44% are male. The total faculty of the university is 1985. 

University Campus, Facilities, Labs and Courses

The beautiful main campus of the University of Mississippi is situated in Oxford and has been routinely recognized as one of the best college campuses of the nation. The regional campuses of the university are situated in Booneville, Grenada, Tupelo and Southaven. Ole Miss provides research laboratory facilities in Applied Physiology, Bone Density, Exercise and Memory, Health and Sports Analytics, Neurophysiology and Behavior, Muscle Biology and several other fields that require intensive laboratory activities. Some of the courses that are taught here are Business and economics, Engineering and technology, Computer science, Education, Arts and humanities, Law, Physical sciences, Lifesciences, Social sciences, Clinical, pre-clinical and health, and Psychology.

The programs that are offered by the University of Mississippi are doctoral degrees, graduate certificates, first professional, specialists, masters and baccalaureate courses. Ole Miss is the largest university of the state with a nationally recognized law school and a major medical school, along with 15 academic divisions. It is less selective in its admissions, with an acceptance rate of 90%, as of fall 2021.

Admission Eligibility Criteria

Freshman admission

  • The candidate must complete the College Preparatory Curriculum (CPC) with at least a 3.20 GPA in high school. 
  • The candidate must complete the CPC with at least a 2.50 GPA in high school on the CPC and at least 16 on the composite ACT. 
  • The candidate must complete the CPC with a class rank in the top 50% and at least 16 on the composite ACT. 
  • The candidate must complete the CPC with at least a 2.00 GPA in high school on the CPC and at least 18 on the composite ACT. 
  • Students seeking admission in the 2023-2024 academic year may be admitted without standardized test scores like ACT or SAT. 
  • The students must meet the certification requirements for the National College Athletic Association. 

Graduate admission

  • Applicants seeking graduate admission must secure at least a B average or its equivalent in previous college and university programs.
  • The applicant must have proper undergraduate preparation in the applied field of study. 
  • The applicant must hold or must be in the process of completing a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent. 
  • Applicants must submit test results such as GMAT or GRE.

  • Optional and official standardized test scores of ACT or SAT
  • Senior course schedule
  • Core GPA for non-residents of Mississippi
