History of Trine University
Trine University has been producing graduates for more than 135 years, and because of their knowledge, creativity, and hard work, they have truly gone out and improved the world. And it's a tale that keeps changing every day-
- 1884- Trine University was founded as Trine State Normal College.
- 1902- The School of Engineering was founded and is now regarded as one of the best undergraduate engineering programs in the nation.
- 1906- The name, Trine State Normal College, was changed to Trine State College.
- 1975- After obtaining university status, Tri-State College changed its name to Tri-State University.
- 2008- Trine State University was finally renamed Trine University.
- 2018- The MTI Center was inaugurated on January 3.
- 2023- Trine University's first NCAA Division III national title is won by the women's softball team.

Within six months of graduation, 99.5% of Trine University's Class of 2023 members secured their ideal employment path. This number is comparable to Trine's Class of 2022 employment and graduate school placement rates. Over the past 11 years, Trine alumni' placement average has risen to above 99%. Nearly 65% of Trine's 2023 graduating class found employment in Indiana, and over 91% of them remain in the Midwest. The majority of Trine's Class of 2023—more than 97%—reported working in their field of study. Trine's Franks School of Education also revealed that, in addition to the overall numbers, all 100 of its alums who applied for teaching positions had been employed for the past 12 years.
