One USP, Ranking, History 

One USP of the University of Dubuque is to foster a “value-laden education that focuses on justice, ethics, and responsible stewardship within a globally diverse community”. This university was founded in 1852 with an effort to serve the underserved. According to US News, this university ranks 66 out of 167 Regional Universities Midwest.

Accreditation, Number of Students and Faculties

The Higher Learning Commission accredits the University of Dubuque. Some of the specific programs of this university are accredited by other accrediting bodies like the Aviation Accreditation Board International, the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, and the State of Iowa Department of Education. Furthermore, this institution also holds institutional membership with the Iowa Association of Colleges for Teacher Education and the Association of Independent Liberal Arts Colleges for Teacher Education. The total instructional employees of this university is 196, out of which 106 are full-time employees with faculty status. The total number of enrollment was 2324 as of Fall 2021. The student to faculty ratio of this university is 15:1. 

University Campus, Facilities, Labs/Courses

The University of Dubuque has invested over $200 million, over the last 15 years, in campus facilities. Each of the buildings within the campus has either been renovated lately or totally new. The facilities offered by the university include its residential halls for students to live on campus and there are 3 types of traditional residential buildings. Number one are the six apartment-inspired buildings for the residency of upper-class students. The Chlapaty Hall is the latest and it incorporates a poor architectural design for bolstering close-knit communities. The third one is the Seminar Townhouses which comprises 32 three or four bedroom units for graduate and seminary students. 80% of the classrooms in the university are fully-equipped ‘smart-classrooms’ with control systems, an LCD projector and an instructor PC.

  • Applications are only accepted if the candidate is a US citizen or a permanent resident of the US. 
  • Applicants with prior military experience and/or UD graduates will be given preference. 
  • Applicants must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. 
  • GRE is not required.
