Blockchain Technology: A Quick Introduction

Welcome to the module on ‘Basics of Blockchain’. This module will set the foundation of all Blockchain concepts that you will learn going forward. Considering all the hype and buzz around Bitcoin and Blockchain in general, it becomes important to understand the characteristics of blockchain against our current technologies, before we think of adopting it as a solution.

In this module,

1. You will be first introduced to the different database systems used in current businesses, the role played by intermediaries in a business process and how blockchain overcomes their limitations.
2. As the module progresses, you will also have an overview of Bitcoin and other potential industrial applications of the blockchain.
3. Then you will dive deeper into the basic components of a blockchain, highlighting the importance of each component.
