Using Data Tables In Tableau

A data table is technically not a data visualization but an important way of exchanging information. 

If the audience is familiar with the data that is being presented, it is always better to present a data table. It contains the highest amount of information that a chart can have. 

In the next video, the faculty will explain the basics of data tables.

As you saw in the video, a data table needs a continuous and a discrete variable. You can make the data table visually appealing using conditional formatting and heatmaps. 
 
In the next video, you will learn how to create a data table in Tableau.

In this video, you saw how easy it is to create visualizations in Tableau. You simply drag and drop the variables that you want to visualize, and Tableau selects a matching plot type. Then, you need to select a data table from the marks card. 

In the video, Sean also spoke about data hierarchy. This is an important concept and will be used quite frequently. Later in the module, you will also learn how to create custom hierarchies. 

To make the data table more visually appealing, you can use conditional formatting. You will learn how to format a data table later in the module. 

In the next segment, you will learn about the first chart type with graphics - the bar chart.
