Visual Design Principles and Storyboarding in Data Analysis

Now that you have utilised the concepts of the pyramid principle and structured communication, the next important step is to make sure that your visuals are designed smartly so that they capture maximum attention.

Let's now listen to Soudhakar as he explains the various facets that need to be taken care of while presenting visuals and how we can create effective presentations.

The two visual principle ideas that you're introduced to in the above video were the concepts of :

• Trade-off between Accuracy and Precision: This is done to reduce the complexity of the figures and numbers that are being presented and thereby reduce the amount of attention needed on the part of the audience to grasp the information.
• Drawing attention: This can be done in several ways - by highlighting the significant figures, using different fonts, boldening the key values, etc.

The final important facet of storytelling would be the concept of storyboarding. 

As you might have seen, the concept of storyboarding has the following advantages:

• Assimilates the information and clarifies the logic of the hypothesis
• Identify gaps in Analysis
• Avoids Redundant Work

Storyboarding achieves the above uses with the help of the pyramid principle and some additional facets like removing the superfluous information,  visually linking the related items and placing information at the right place.
