Research methods are specific strategies for gathering and interpreting data. The development of your research methodology is an important aspect of your research plan once you have come up with the hypothesis statement aligned with your research question. The type of data that you need also depends upon the hypothesis of your research.

In this video, you learnt about the three types of research methods, which include the following:

1. Qualitative research: It involves collecting and analysing non-numerical data to understand concepts, opinions or experiences.
2. Quantitative research: It involves collecting and analysing numerical data for statistical analysis.
3. Hypothesis statement: It is a supposition or a proposed explanation that is made on the basis of limited evidence and acts as a starting point for further investigation.

You also learnt about the characteristics of a hypothesis statement, which include the following:

1. Specific: You should make your hypothesis statement specific and unambiguous.
2. Discreet: You should position your hypothesis statement in a cautious and confidential manner.
3. Falsifiable: You should design your hypothesis in such a way that it can be proven as false.
4. Testable: You should be able to run an experiment on your hypothesis.
