Macroeconomic Theories and Factors - Overview

Welcome to the second session of this module on ‘Macroeconomics’. In this session, we will focus on ‘Macroeconomic Theories and Factors’. In the previous session, you learnt about the fundamentals of macroeconomics and economic activity in general.
 

In this session

You will learn about:

1. The classical economic theory and the Keynesian economic theory, and learn how these have influenced the economics in the modern world
2. The multiplier effect, which shows how multiplication of investment occurs in an economy and why it is beneficial for economies
3. The consumption function, which helps you understand how consumption is modelled in an economy
4. Theories of interest, which help you understand what influences savings and investment decisions
5. Unemployment and inflation, which are core macroeconomic factors, and understand how they are related

Chris Oates, PhD

Chris founded Two Lanterns Advisory, a political risk consultancy, where clients include the Department of Defense and financial institutions, and Legislata, a software tool for elected officials.

He has also served as a Senior Advisor to Voter Choice 2020 and worked at Oxford Analytica, as political and economic research firm. Chris has a PhD in International Relations from the University of Oxford and a BA from Brown University and lectures at a university in the United States.
