How stories evolve can seem like a mystery to readers. However, the process is rather simple. In this session, we will walk you through the practice of journalism. You will start by understanding how a newsroom works and what happens in a typical day in the field of journalism. Then, we will move on to learn more about gathering information and finally writing the story. Our instructor Dipanjan Sinha, an independent journalist from Kolkata, will take you through his journey of writing his feature on the cycling ban in Kolkata. This story was published in The City Monitor during the COVID-19 pandemic. By the end of this session, you will be able to understand the entire process of planning, preparing and writing a news feature.
You will be going through an end-to-end process in creating an article and also revising some of the older concepts taught while learning how to apply them in a real life assignment. This session will help you as a guiding tool for your end-of-course assignment that requires you to write an article of your own.
