Video 11.2.1: Elements of Voice - I
In the video above, you learnt about the first three elements of voice, which are as follows:
- Tone and emphasis: Tone refers the way you say something or how a word sounds when you utter it. If you do not change the tone of your voice while speaking a sentence, it can become very monotonous. Then, with the example of the sentence “I did not tell Akshay about your plans”, you learnt the importance of emphasis while talking.
- Pitch: Pitch refers to the rising or falling tone of your voice. It can be of two types, high pitch, which usually means that you are excited or angry or are talking with passion, and low pitch, which means that you are measured and relaxed.
- Clarity of speech: Clarity of speech is often mistaken for clarity of thought because when you are unsure of what to say, you tend to mumble or speak in such a manner that the other person may not understand what you are saying. On the other hand, if you speak clearly, the customer will assume that you are confident and know what you are talking about and therefore will trust you more.
