In this segment, Sonesh will take you through the speed optimisation, and server and security aspects of an SEO audit report.
In Sonesh briefly explained the speed optimisation aspect of SEO audit.
You learnt that the code (HTML) size of a webpage should be low.
You also learnt that to using HTML compressors can shorten the code further.
These optimisations ensure that the page speed is as high as possible. This is an important factor that Google considers in it’s algorithm for ranking web pages. Further, a high page load speed also improves the customer’s experience of your web page. As Sonesh explained, a page speed of over 5 seconds will lose almost 50% of their customers, as opposed to a page that under 5 seconds.
In the next video, you will learn about the server and security aspect of SEO.
Sonesh just explained the server and security aspects of an SEO audit report.
You learnt about canonicalisation, which is a situation wherein multiple URLs are present for a website and they do not resolve to the same page. For example, if http://www.foneinfo.com and http://foneinfo.com display the same page, but do not resolve to the same URL.
Let’s say your name is ABC. Now imagine someone calls out “Mr./Mrs. ABC” but you never hear it. Now assume someone else calls you ‘ABC Sir/Madam’ and yet again someone else responds to the call. This is the effect of canonicalisation. If the search engine is shows different results for slight changes in your URL, it may not throw up relevant results on the SERP.
In the video, you also learnt about the security of HTTPS versus HTTP. HTTPS is a secure protocol for sending or receiving data over the Internet. Google is increasingly using privacy and security as ranking factors.
Finally, you should ensure that your web pages are free from malware and phishing as these would decrease their ranks in the SERP. In case you find this in the SEO audit, it is imperative to immediately ensure that they are removed.
In the next video, you will hear Sonesh explain the Mobile Usability aspect of an SEO Audit Report.
As explained in the video, this element of the SEO audit shows how you can make your webpage mobile friendly. In this age of technology, when everyone has a mobile phone, it makes sense to optimise the experience for a vertical screen as well. This will not only ensure that your consumers can view your web pages on both computer screens and mobile screens, but will also help your business increase traffic from consumers who predominantly use mobile phones.
The media query technique uses the style and presentation to changed according to the output device and screen. For example, you can see how different foneinfo.com looks on a mobile screen and a desktop screen.
In the video above, Sonesh took you through some Advanced SEO techniques. In the next video, you will learn how to conduct Off-Page SEO audit.
