In the above video, Madhura explained the following key terms that every marketer should know:
● Permission to send emails:
This is the ability for users to opt in to your email list.
● Spam:
Spams are unsolicited emails violating the CAN-SPAM Act.
● Prohibited content:
This is the content that cannot be used in an email. There are policies and guidelines that clearly define the types of content that is illegal in email marketing.
● Bounce rate:
Bounce rate is the percentage of undelivered emails. There are two types of bounce rates: Soft bounce, which includes bounces that occur due temporary problems such as an inbox being full, an email being too large for the recipients inbox, etc., and hard bounces, which occur due to permanent problems such as incorrect email address, non-existent email address, etc.
● Open rate:
This is the percentage of emails opened during an email campaign, i.e. number of emails opened divided by the number of emails sent.
● Click rate:
This is the percentage of people who clicked on a link or an image received in an email body, i.e. number of clicks on the email divided by the number of emails sent.

This is the percentage of people who clicked on a link or an image received in an email body after they opened it, i.e. number of clicks on the email divided by the number of emails opened.
● Single opt-in:
This is a subscription process where a new email address is added to your mailing list without requiring the user to confirm their email address.
● Double opt-in:
This refers to a subscription process where the user needs to confirm their email address by clicking a link.
● Opt-in/Subscribe:
Opt-in refers to a user’s action where they choose to add their email address to your mailing list.
● Opt-out/ Unsubscribe:
Opt-out refers to a user’s action where they requested for the removal of their email address from your mailing list.
